Teachers can involve their class within the Weed Warriors program through the support of a key contact and in some instances a mentor or community group. The support provided to teachers by key contacts is central to the success of the Weed Warriors program, so it is discouraged for schools without an identified key contact to enter the program. If your school does not know a suitable Weed Warriors key contact the national or your state/territory coordinator may be able to assist. Please either contact them or fill out and return the request for assistance form at the end of the Weed Warriors for Teachers information sheet.
Participating in the Weed Warriors program helps teachers to achieve learning outcomes across key learning areas in a self-directed and constructive learning situation that is fun, stimulating and hands-on.
Teachers participating in the program receive comprehensive resources to assist in preparing for and conducting a Weed Warriors program within the classroom.
Teachers engaging their students in the Weed Warriors program will need to allow an average of four weeks for the breeding phase of the program and a minimum five hours of teacher involvement. It is recommended that supporting weed related learning opportunities are conducted with students prior to and throughout the Weed Warriors program.
