Key Contacts

The key contact is the person who organises, coordinates and implements the Weed Warriors program within a local area. The key contact is also someone who will become a driver for continuing and expanding the program within the region.

The key contact is usually a person interested in engaging people in local weed issues and who have knowledge about the management of weeds and/or natural resources in a local area. Key contacts do not need to be from a government agency or non-government organisation but should at least be working in or have knowledge of natural resource management and/or weeds.

Key contacts that conduct a Weed Warriors program will be responsible for a range of tasks from organising a schools involvement to conducting a classroom session and release event. Key contacts interested in running a Weed Warriors program will spend on average four days organising and delivering the program to a school or cluster of schools. During the breeding phase of the program the Weed Warriors key contact should also be contactable to support the teacher and students should they need any assistance with the program.

Key contacts participating in the program receive comprehensive resources and reference guides to assist in preparing for and implementing a Weed Warriors program.
